Work Finally Begins

“Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
Right now we are in a place where people who were once strangers in our community are now becoming friends. People, who may or may not know our names yet, but know our faces and give us warm welcomes as we pass by. Others continue to stare at us with curiosity, wondering what we are doing here and why. But instead of explaining myself through words I rather show them with my actions.
This month we have finally begun work in neighborhoods considered dangerous by most in Buenos Aires. And not one day passes by that I am not reminded of those dangers as we walk through the different communities. However, I am quietly reminded by the Spirit, that God is my ancient pillar of cloud by day and my ancient pillar of fire by night. He is our protector and guide. And despite all the negative things I may hear, God is at work. And I am able to see His face and hear His laughter through the children on the street corners playing hand games or singing. In these neighborhoods I see what hope, commitment and sacrifice truly look like. In these neigborhoods, God is revealing what unconditional love and a community shaped by the kingdom look like.
On top of our daily routine in the neighborhoods, we have also begun our weekly English classes. Our classes thus far has been such an amazing experience to be apart of. It has been a joy to bring smiles to people who may of had a stressful day and form an environment that's safe and friendly for everyone. Also, I with the help of my faithful companion Caty (and thanks to Paul for downloading the music), have started salsa lessons in one of the neighborhood's. But the highlight for me was the aerobic moves with music by Tina Turner "Proud Mary" at the very end of the class.  At one point of the routine I couldn't keep myself from laughing as hard as I could and either could they. It was the funniest thing to see everyone trying to keep up with the ridiculous fast rock moves we made them do. I can't wait for next Saturday.
So far these have been my foot prints here in Buenos Aires and I sincerely thank everyone who has been supporting me Spiritually and financially through this journey. Without your help I wouldn't be here. Whether being here means embracing children at the daycare I am working at and playing tickle monster with them. Or willing to listen to someone's troubles and share their burden. For this, I am grateful to you and I thank you once again. For those who feel lead to donate, you can click on the links above and prayers are always needed. Thanks.
