The Journey Begins

I am about to embark on a new journey to Argentina in less than three weeks with an organization called Mission Year. Mission Year is a program designed to teach young eager Christians what the kingdom of God could look like if one is willing to learn, listen and deny one-self. This program emphasizes what the Gospel teaches us repeatedly, which is to love God and love people. The program will move us into the undesirable neighborhoods of the inner city where people are working hard to flee from and want no part of. In the inner city we will form relationships based on trust, respect and love with our neighbors. And create a safe place for people to come, be heard and be cared for. While living there we will commit and volunteer 25-30hrs a week at a social service agency that is determined to provide and care for the poor.
Though we will not have any money to help the community financially, we will help in areas where money cannot reach. And open our doors to our neighborhood by becoming mentors and friends. This journey for me is filled with opportunities to love, grow and serve. And I will be honored to have you join me through this experience by following my blog online (meroeliranzo.blogspot.com), praying for the community or supporting me financially (if you wish to make a payment online you can go to https://www.missionyear.org/support/meroeliranzo or mail in the support envelope).
Throughout this year I am asked to raise support of $6,000 which will cover my plane ticket, food, transportation, health insurance and other expenses. Though you are not able to travel with me physically, you will be traveling with me in spirit. You will be with me as I travel the streets of Buenos Aires, you will be walking along my side to my community service site, you will be helping me embrace the broken hearted and cry beside me with tears for justice. And for that I sincerely thank you for joining me on this adventure to serve others and draw closer to the heart of God.

With all my love,
Meroe
